Default Deactivating Beltminder??

Just want to say not looking to get into a debate on safety or legality here.

I tried to deactivate the beltminder chime which periodically chimes at me when I am driving around.... unbuckled.... I followed the instructions in my owner's manual, turn on the power, wait till the light goes out, buckle the seat 9 times, hold your breath, do a hand stand, etc. For some reason it doesnt seem to work.

Anyone have this issue? I have an xlt that originally had power drivers and manual pass seats. I swapped the seats for lariat all power/heat/ memory seats. Could the new seats cause this problem?

I'd try again. I wear my belt, but I turned mine off. So I know it works, just have to follow it exactly.

Im in same boat as you. I had an old car in my back yard. So i just went out there cut 2 of the buckles out and no more chime. But i do want to figure out of to turn it all the way off. Oh and just heads up dont unhook everything under the seat like i did alls it does it mess other stuff up and it also doesnt make the chime go away. It would on 2003 below. But not 04+. My grandpa bought an 02 and we unhooked it. No more annoying chime lol.

Count it on the way out. It took me a couple times as well. Mine has been disable for 3 years now give or take. Don't have anybody in the passenger seat, maybe I was retarded but when I tried to do it with my buddy in the passenger seat it didn't seem to want to cooperate.

I've been wearing seatbelts my whole driving life. I had a 1980 2 door impala V8 with bench seats. The only way I could stay behind the wheel was with a seatbelt. You slide around alot on two wheels without a seatbelt on!
