Default damn 4x4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So im convinced I have the iwe solenoid problem,...its an 05, and when its in 2wd the screaming from the front end can be heard by anyone on the street...when i put it in 4x4 the noise stops...
my question is how much is this gona cost me to fix. i just ordered new tires (( and how can i avoid the dealership screwing me, im far from a mechanic and i dont really know how to explain that i know what it is, without saying "i have the iwe solenoid problem"
fyi, my vacuum hose was replaced under warranty a few months back, but the solenoid hasnt been touched

id like to shoot the ******* who came up with electronic 4x4

help me tom cruise!!!

i just fixed a truck with the same problems, it could be several things
1. it could be the iwe solenoid
2.the 4x4 actuator may be tore
3.one of the hoses is cracked

if you have a vacuum checker, start off with checking the pressure, if you do not, take it in and have them diagnose it....the truck i fixed had a crack in the rubber seal on the actuator, hence letting the vacuum leak and make the wheel end move in and out, hearing a wooshing sound.

well i know what it sounds like, but you need to pinpoint what part of the 4x4 is at fault....i could slap you with a $1000 bill and replace the hole 4x4 system, but it could only be a 30 dollar part that is the issue or a 115 dollar part, however leaving it unfixed, can cause the splines in the hub to become damaged and escalate the cost of the repair.

My 04' does the same thing. I switch it in and out of 4-wheel a few times and the noise stops. I describe the noise like a power steering pump sound.
