Default Cutting Cats off..

So ive called around to the local exhaust places, and no one wants to cut em off for me. Think they would replace with pipe where the cats were if I did it myself? Or has anyone had any lucky cutting them, themselves? any tips would be great!

good luck finding a shop that will risk losing there business or paying huge fines for removing your cats. i suppose if you cut them off it might be a different story.

did you set off a CEL? Im debating doing the same thing and thankfully my friend owns an exhaust shop. Just wondering if I had to order a O2 simulator or not?

If the shops arent willing to cut them off im betting you have emissions testing for your inspection, in that case if you know someone you can cut them off, gut them and stick them back on its like having no cats but they look like they are there.

Well I live in South Dakota haha, and we dont have any emissions testing or inspections for anything on our vehicles, were all kinda red necks, live in a town for 3k people so its not a big deal, and not unusual for loud hot rods goin around town... Would the smart thing be to cut cats put pipe on and get fake o2 simulator? Or go with high flow cats? With the high flow cats, i heard it doesnt do much to the sound because our cats are already kinda gutted in a way? just what i heard whether its true or false i have no clue... any help is appreciated!

Do you have two cats or four? Also keep in mind that cats are not holding back any sound. Get a louder muffler. Or for that matter disconnect your current muffler and drive the truck. You will see what I mean. Also take into account that the cats are expensive to replace should you ever have to have them for emissions.
