im thinking about cutting a hole in each side under the rear seat and having some metal boxes welded in. then drop 2 custom boxes in there and mount the amps in the middle. if i go all out, im gonna fiberglass the whole thing, from one side to the other.

What exactly do you mean by custom? Did you want to fiberglass or cover it with something different? I built two separate boxes for my last truck and they came out ok. When I got this truck I just bought a box and it sounds a lot better than my custom job.

I have a sub box under my rear seat of my 05 f150 that I purchased from my local stereo shop. I believe it is made by bassworx, fits under with no problems and does not effect the height of the back seat

Working on mine now. I'll take some pics and give you the measurements too. It measures out to be about .64 cubic feet of air. Not much, but if you go with the right sub it will work, especially with a little polyfill. It fits my alphasonik 10" sub perfect without raising the seat any. Not sure about any other sub yet, looking into a RF p2 that should fit aswell and will probably give more bass too.
