Default Custom shift ***** for AOD floor shifter??

Hey everyone,

I just bought an '07 scab with the 5.4. It's my first "big boy" truck, after having driven a '91 Ranger for several years now just shy of 300,000 miles. Anyway, my only real aesthetic complaint with it is the "floor" shifter in the center console. I'm sorry, it just seems so tacky in a pickup. I figure the best way to live with it is to fit it with a boot and a custom shift ****, but I am having one hell of a time finding any information from anyone who has done it before (the search button wasn't much help). I will no doubt in time wind up finding something and making it work, but I'm just wondering if anyone out there feels the same and has done something about it!

Because there's no such thing as a drop in shift **** replacement for our trucks. If you want drop in, the best thing you can do is fabricate up a shift **** cover, otherwise you're looking at a lot of custom work to make a commercial one fit.

I refused to buy a truck unless it had the floor shifter. I like the look much better but that was not your question and is just my opinion. To answer your question I will refer to what elricfate said. Custom or nothing.

the shifter ****/handle from the Lincoln mark trucks is different than ours and is a direct replacement. I think it is leather wrapped if memory serves

Technically, yes, it's faux leather wrap designed. It's okay but also north of $50 for one, and for what you get, to me, that seemed like too much.

Your right about the $50! i wonder if the "local recycling facility" would let one go for $5?

Oh man, if you can find one for that price, find two. -- My local u-picks have zero inventory of any of this generation of trucks in either the Ford flavor or the Lincoln flavor.

Wow, really? No kidding, I just think a truck looks weird without a column shifter or a standard. I have to admit it's growing on me, but I still think the stock handle is kind of plain.

So, it looks like I have some work to do in the shop. Thanks for the replies!

I agree the stock handle is kind of plain. I plan on going the leather route eventually with mine. You could paint, wrap, or hydro dip it?
