Default Custom iphone/ipod dock

I was off work today so i decided to do a little mod, I added a dock for my iphone/ ipod's.

I was looking all over the interior of the truck for a suitable location for the dock so i settled for it being in front of the cup holders in the console. i used on of the Apple dock adapters for the dock.

Carefully remove the front part of the console (held on by clips)

Tape off the center part with painters tape and find and mark the center mark of the piece and trace the adapter. also mark out were the recessed area of the adapter is so it can be cut out. micrometer makes life easier than a tape measure.

Cut the piece out with a Dremel.

Test fitted the piece probably 20 times to make it fit right, also used plasti-dip to paint the adapter piece flat black.

Super glued some plastic to a 9' ipod cable for support.

Used the playdo adhesive stuff for strength to the adpater.

Not sure if that's the greatest location for an iPod, I'd probably be knocking it off a lot, but that does look really nice!

I agree. I've been looking around for places, and I feel like I'd knock my phone down often there. Nice install though, looks clean!

Thanks guys i originally thought it might be in a bad place for hitting it. but after driving two and from work today with coffee in the cup holder and adjusting radio and HVAC controls i never even came close to hitting my iphone. The only way i could possibly accidentally hitting the phone would be plugging something into the cigarette lighter.
