Default custom air intake

i have found out that you can go to spectreperformance.com and build your own intake pretty much, so ive started doing this. but ive hit a road block. if i want to remove the stock filter box how do i adjust with the MAF sensor? i was told to have straight open cone filter for more airflow but i go mudding alot, and the idea of a open cone filter with mud and water splashin around doesnt sound like it would end well for me. any tips?

I'm not sure about the MAF sensor, but i agree with you a open cone filter with mud and water splashing around don't sound like it would be good, that's what I thought to that is why I have been looking at the airaid MIT tube 400-490 keeps the stock filter in place and u don't have to worry about the MAF sensor, and i put a K&N filter in; here is a link to the site with the tube I'm talking about http://www.airaid.com/ProductDetail....ductID=400-940

that would be a good product to put on my truck but damn 150 bucks, i should be getting a couple hundred bucks for christmas. and i would love to be able to get a air intake and a exhaust set up, the exhaust will cost me around 375. so i gotta be cheap with my air intake, i did find this though on the spectre website

it is the middle row second one down. it looks like a case for the filter to go in

I run 33s toyo mts. I get a good 15 close to 16 MPG so I'd say tea it would help some. I also had Gibson performance exhaust that came with the truck. Got a ton of horsepower with those extras.
