If the grinding goes away, then you know you have a vacuum problem somewhere between the engine and one or both IWEs. If the grinding persists, make sure each IWE is bolted to the steering knuckle properly. Make sure the axle end nut was installed and torqued to 20 in-lbs. After that, I'd suspect the hubs as being bad.
Do I need to get plugs for the lines or can I just use wire ties or tape them? Am I trying to make them air tight once removed or am I plugging them to keep dirt out of the lines?

I'm not where I can look at mine right now, so I don't know if they are flexible enough to seal off by pinching them with something.

I just pulled the vacum line off the solenoid and tied it to the line going to the vacum box to apply vacum to the IWE'S. Lets you no if those lines are holding vacum or not. You can get a vacum pressure tester at Harbor Freight if one is near you.

The IWE solenoid is on the passenger side firewall at the top behind the battery trace the vacuum line back from that to the engine.

I know where the solenoid is I was having trouble tracing the line back to the engine. I found this method of bypassing the solenoid on another forum. The picture I attached above is my understanding of how the solenoid is supposed to be bypassed. Where on the engine does the vacuum line go to?
