Default Common problems

Ok boys and girls, I am ready for another purchase. Have a 93 f250,,,looking at 06 150's and 06 Sierras.....any common problems I should plan on dealing with,,,,I plan on getting one with roughly 75000 miles and keep it until 120000. Any specific trim levels that you would recommend that may not have some of the issues of lesser trim levels? Really like the FX4 and Lariat, and the SLE 1 & 2 for the Sierra, both with V8's and 4x4. Thank you in advance

To clarify, the 5.4L 3V V8 from 04-very early 08 have a specially designed spark plug that tends to break when you're changing them. There is a tool available to pull the second half of the plugs out.

The power window regulators in the 04-08 trucks have a bad reputation for snapping, resulting in the need for a replacement (around $100 or so online).

I went from an 03 Silverado to my 06 Lariat, the F150 is unmatched in looks, comfort, and build quality. I recommend looking for a Lariat, if you go to 07 I think you can get the FX4 Luxury Package which gives you most of the Lariat amenities.

Here's the 06 brochure, hope it helps:

Love my 06' FX4. Center console shifter and leather are great... doesn't come with heated seat though if you come from a colder climate, you'll need the Lariat for that.

Doesn't matter what trim level, the 4X4's have their problems. If it hasn't had them already, it will eventually blow out the hubs on ya along with the IWE solenoid. Ball joints (complete control arm) are also common.

I recently had my right exhaust manifold replaced. The Ford techs said that the A/C drips on them, which caused my to crack in half.. Ford came out with a new manifold that now has a shield on it to protect from the A/C

I have a 05 FX5, my first truck, has been great I bought it with 72000 miles and have put on about 26000 now and nothing has gone wrong as of yet, just normal maintenance, beautiful truck and very comfortable and handles great, the 5.4 has a good amount of power stock. Id go with the FX4, I will will always be buying the Fx4, would love a SVT Raptor but dont have the money for it

The only real problem I encountered was my rear window creaking when it is closed. I had Ford repair numerous times. The only real fix was to close it and then BARELY open it where it was really still closed. Otherwise from a comfort perspective the rear seats sit STRAIGHT UP. Not a problem if you are the driver though.

It doesn't really matter which brand you go with, All trucks have problems and will continue to have them. I considered all brands before I bought my '05. If you ever do have questions though, this is a great place to get advice on the fords. Lots of knowledgeable folks here. I was a little worried about some things on my truck but just keep the maintenance up to snuff and it'll last you a while. They're good trucks.

are you sure? im almost positive when the truck was redesigned for '04 that was a new feature. the rear seat is at a slight angle for comfort.
