On a side note how do you like the scan gauge and will it give accurate tranny temps?
im not debating that the stock intake is more restrictive to airflow than an aftermarket but the reason i quoted what you said and countered it was because you said the stock system isnt a "CAI" when in fact it is. its not a hi flow system but it does draw cool air from outside the engine compartment which is what any true "CAI" will do. not debating air flow. i dont have the numbers i saw anymore, but i averaged the numbers i got from traveling at various speeds as well as parked with the truck at idle. at speeds the differences were smaller but parked they were huge. i like the scanguage BTW, it will monitor trans temps using the X-guage option.

Ya... Ok my bad... I will agree on the cold air... Because I've noticed that when I'm at idle the air temp can jump quite a bit... I've been trying to decide if that should be something I try to change or not...

Amen!

Welcome aboard Tony. You'll have to forgive our outwardness on this subject, as it comes up often, sometimes 3 to 4 times a month. The most common topics have to do with exhaust, CAI, and tuners. Add to that the usual oil topics, and the dreaded 5.4 spark plug issue.

Take a look at the search option. Type in "exhaust", or "Tuner", or "CIA". Be prepared to see dozens of pages of posts on these topics!

To directly answer your question: yes, tuners are worth the bucks if you complement them with a good CAI and exhaust sytem. By themselves you will not notice real significant changes in performance, but all three together will wake up the truck for sure!

I agree with you. But I think that the real benefit from these systems is the VOLUME of air you get. Warmer or not, the amount you get into the engine is where you get the HP jump. I know my K&N made a pretty noticeable difference and I don't even have a tune.

My friend says get the AEM air intake,Im going with a air intake systems

It works by increasing the amount of oxygen in the system which burns completely with the fuel. If the car is very hot, it will bring a condition where the people in there will be uncomfortable. This therefore means that they will not enjoy their time like they would wish to.
