Codes Lost..

Default Codes Lost..

I had a buddy run codes on my truck and I wrote them down and can't find the paper I wrote them on... I think I threw them away.. he cleared the codes once I wrote them down and I'm wondering how if possible to get them back?? Niether one of us can remember what it was..

If I disconnect my neg bat cable and reconnect it will that work?

Keep driving the truck....the codes will come back. Codes are not simply permanently erased by a scanner.

Ummm yes they are...not erased but re-set....disconnecting the Batt will re-set them also...if there's something wrong with your truck it will re-set the malfunction codes soon...

Umm no they are not, ready what I said again:

Keep driving the truck....the codes will come back. Codes are not simply permanently erased by a scanner.

Brett if your truck runs but turns on the MIL light, run it several duty cycles and re-read and document your OBD ii scanner also navigate and document furthur pages of documents it has especially the I/M tests as what isn't tested OK can lead you to your problem area. It takes several duty cycles for all the emissions tests to complete so be patient with the ones that don't turn on to OK. It might take a few days of driving to isolate your problem. It will tell you if Fuel System, Evap system, o2 sensors etc are functioning OK.
