Clear Coat Question
Looks shiny under where it peeling in the pic. If this is the case it's because it's been repainted and wasn't sanded properly first. It will continue to peel until it reaches a properly prepped section of the hood. You can try to pick off the loose stuff and then touch it up but it might continue.
X2^^^
It's never gonna look right again until the entire hood is stripped and re-cleared. You could try very lightly wet sanding with a 2000 grit to bring down the edges. Then wash, polish and wax. This may help it blend and protect it until you can get it cleared.
Or you could cry foul....(insurance)

Took it to a guy I met recently who owns a local body shop and he told me the best way to insure it's done right was to sand it down, repaint, and then shoot a new coat of clearcoat. He only charged me $225 and now look at my hood.

He's telling me the clear he used was better than factory, and that's why it looks blacker.
I've had other shops look at it and want too much to fix it. I should have called my insurance at the time and insisted it got fixed right.
At the time the truck was only a year old.

Thanks, guys.
That just isn't right about the difference in clearcoats. A body shop's job is to match what you have. That guy almost sounds like he is forcing you to now think about having the entire truck done so it will match what he did.
Looks good. Your lucky, I had a person hit and run on me. She/he dented my passenger door. The shop I went to did a good job with the dent, but in the right light you can see a difference. I took it back a few times and still looks different.
