Default Chrome rear diff cover

My rear end is leaking a little. I want to fix the leak and change the cover. Are they all the same? Or will different models be different? Mines an 04 FX4 btw

I think you are looking for WebMD...

Sorry, couldn't resist.

You'll have to check your door sticker to see what kind of differential you have.

F150 differentials (ring gears, actually) come in three standard sizes: 8.8 inch; 9.75 inch; and 10.25 inch.

I went with a PML cover and it worked out great. Has magnetic drain plug so changing fluid a snap.

I had a Mag-Hytek on my previous truck and liked it. It was kinda funny when someone would notice and compliment on a rear diff cover. I liked it because of the extra oil capacity.

I have no idea why I said "standard" on all three... I'm not sure which is actually the "standard" size that comes on a truck without a tow package and such optioned.
The salesman claimed mine had the 10 1/4 inch rear end, but I later learned he was mistaken. It's actually the 9.75.
If I had to guess, I'd say the 8.8 is "standard" on plain jane no options base models, while the 10.25 is a high dollar option with the super duper tow package or somesuch.
