chips are more for obd1 vehicles. our trucks are obd2 so tuners are easier and more common. i think there is one company that makes a chip for our trucks but dont know anyone using it.

realistically they all add about the same hp. a custom tune from php or troyer will get you a little more. if you want gauges, an edge would be nice but if you dont need that you can go with sct xcal3.

Chips are a thing of the past for gas engines. In order to change any fuel trims and other parameters, the PCM has to be flashed which takes a programmer.
All programmers aren't created equal. Custom tuned devices have a distinct advantage over canned tunes as they can account for modifications such as intakes. It's not so much about the device even with a custom programmer, it's more about the person doing the tuning. Search around and you'll find hundreds of posts about custom programmers and their features, and find the one you want.

For a good quality chip, I'd suggest Doritos Spicy Nacho.

For increased truck HP, I'd go with what everyone else said.
