Default Changing Tranny Filter

Is this pretty straight forward? Drop trans pan, remove filter, replace filter and replace pan?

Is there a fluid drain plug or does it all dump out when you unbolt the pan?

You'll lose the fluid, buy more. If your track has a trans dipstick you can refill from there. Then just get the old one out and put in the new one and refill. I like to put silicone with the new gasket to prevent leaks. Tighten the bolts in order around the pan snug then 1/4 turn on the send go around. Invest in a speed handle to do this, so you get even torque on each

So it's pretty messy when you crack the pan open and let the fluid drain?

I usually keep a drain underneath that's bigger than the pan just in case but if you keep one or bolts in that are loose you can pull the pan down a little and get most of the fluid out cleanly, wear glasses and keep towels nearby. Trust me.
