Once you get to the first tab (sliding the fishing line or dental floss), you'll be able to gently pry the badge off with your fingers (pull back).
I just replaced my sides and tailgate emblems on my 2005 with a set of the newer (2009 and up) style badges. You'll have to cut the tabs off of the new fender badges (use side cutters; the tabs are plastic) as they will not align with the holes in our '04 to '08 fenders. Don't worry though, as the holes in the fenders are easily covered by the new style badges. I used a piece of blue painters tape to mark a straight edge in which to mount/align the new fender badges straight on the fender. The rear tailgate badge tabs of the newer emblem line up perfect with the holes in the older tailgate, so you will not need to cut those off of the newer style tailgate badge.
Don't use any wax type cleaners to remove any left over goop from the old two sided tape, as it will not provide a good surface for the new emblems to stick to. Use Goo Gone, or alcohol type prep pads (buy them at any auto parts store) to clean the surface.

Try your local large chain auto parts store, such as Pep Boys or Autozone. If they don't have goo gone, they will have the alcohol type trow away pads, as they are also used for cleaning/wiping down brake rotors. They will not harm your paint.
