Default CD player won't load CD's

My OEM 6 disc changer on my 04 FX4 will not load cd's in for some reason. It still ejects and plays the discs but it won't let me feed a new disc in. It keeps saying disc load error on the display every time I try. Any tips?

What's a "CD"?

I have no idea what you can do to fix that. I haven't ever used my CD player. Maybe it's time for an Ipod?

Maybe reset the radio? Long shot, but who knows!
If not...upgrade to an aftermarket unit. Go to Best Buy and see if they have any "open box" or "clearance" radios. I was able to find one for my truck, my wife's 4Runner, and my brother's truck half price. We all got the same radio (different stores). Year model of so old, but still perfectly functional. Originally $1000 GPS DVD units for $400-$500.

Haha yeah, I hear ya. CD's are a little outdated. I do have my Ipod hooked up to my aux port but when the ipod dies on a long trip the cd's are a nice back up!

Usually that means it's time for a new one. Often you can find a used factory one on ebay, but an aftermarket would be a great alternative. No one can diagnose or fix it without taking it completely apart, and most likely that means sending it out... we're talking weeks

Darn, I wasn't looking forward to having to replace it. I might just deal with it for a while. I've thought about swapping to a head unit with nav before but those are so expensive!

Yea, and they need updates, and just like anything else, they have issues. I had all that, I am enjoying simplicity these days

Same here. I like easy. Would it be difficult to swap to an OEM nav head unit? Like what would come in the lariat or KR stock. I feel like there would be less problems with those than one of the aftermarket ones.
