Default CB Antenna Options

Hey guys i've been thinking about getting a short CB antenna to go on the roof of my truck. Im new to the CB area and need some help with a few questions. Can I run the wire throught my third brake light and then seal it? Where do you have your antennas mounted? Lastly where do you guys have your radios at?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

We farm. Before reliable cell phones we had 4 pickups wIth business band radios and 6 more in our tractors/semi/combine Our business band antennas were mounted in the center of the roof of our pickups. A hole was drilled thru sheet metal and a wire ran down the pillar. When we sold the trucks, the antennas scew off the base, or the base can also be screwed out and a special rubber plug installed. We never had leaks and have had bb radios for 30+ yrs.

I ran mine from the third brake light. Just make sure you notch the plastic on the assembly so you don't damage the wire when screwing it back on.

I've mounted mine on the inside of the bed ran it down thru a hole into the bed and zip tied it up around the frame area, stuck a hole in the boot that wraps around my brake pedal and right into the cab at the front of the vehicle you are.. Does away with all that drilling into the truck and fooling around with wires trying to run them down the pillar

Get a magnetic mount Wilson Lil Wil. Open the door and run the wire into the cab to the radio. The Lil Wil coax is small enough where you dont have to worry about the coax pinching in the door.

Firesticks are junk IMO. I've had Wilson 500, Wilson 5000, Predator 10k single coil and double coil antenna and just bought a K40 Plus series antenna.
The Firestick (5' tuneable tip) lasted 3 weeks on the truck. Now it sits in the closet.

Do you think a 2' firestick mounted by a magnet on the roof would look out of place? i like the magnet mount on the roof.
