Im trying to avoid drilling a hole in my roof, so anybody got a good path to wire up a cb antenna. I have a sun roof so thats a possibility i guess.

I remember my father-in-law bought a new Ford F150 back in the early 90's; it had a factory AM-FM-CB radio, and the antenna on the front passenger fender had the CB antenna built into it.

Perhaps a trip to a good Ford parts counter person could net you someone willing to search out this part number, then you could install this antenna in the stock radio position and not have to drill any holes at all. You'd have your radio and CB all in one.

I just cannot remember the year of that truck though.

 

bucko, that sounds like a plan. Its a 06 Scab Lariat with a sunroof.

 

I had a through the glass antenna on my 95 t-bird ( like the old cell phone antenna) the range was weak but it worked

 

They make a mount that you can clip onto the inside of your bed, and they make one you mount the drivers side of the hood where it closes.

 

If you have a toolbox in the bed that is a good place to mount it as long as you put it on the backside of it cause if it's too close to the back window the reflection will cause your swr's (standing wave ratio of the antenna) to be too high & damage the radio. I had an 102 inch stainless steel whip on the back of my aluminum toolbox in my 99 ranger with a battery cable run to the frame so the mount had a good ground. Worked awesome with my connex 4800 radio & Texas Star 667 linear amp.

 

I used the F150 hood channel mount (AUF1-L) and mounted it on the drivers side of my 06. The cable runs in the large rubber grommet in the firewall. Works great for me.

 

I got a Wilson 5000 with a 60" Stainless Steel Whip on the top of my 06 with a magentic mount. Had the ole Cobra peaked and tuned, I can get 9-10 miles on a good day.
