The code is p0430 if anyone could tell me what they've done to fix it
I'm being told by 3 people now to knock the center of converters out or just cut out and put straight pipe in place? Has anyone done this or have any insight on what this will do. I'm assuming they are on truck for a purpose do I'm hesitant to do this.

"Do you know a good exhaust shop ? They usually can cut and weld up a storm not so expensive as Midas. They plug in their Sawsall and in 10 minutes you got new pipe with a mig around it. P0430 is part of exhaust code for catz and o2 sensor. After re-setting the codes the emissions tests are being done by the PCM to make certain the EVAP works properly, re-set and try again later, engine probably isn't running ok now.

If you take out the cats you will have check engine light P0420 and P0430 cat codes because they need to register how effective your cats are doing. If they detect free flowing air and no change in exhaust gasses check engine light will never go out.

When I swapped the o2 sensors i did the 2 on the bottom. Driver side top was easy to get to but passenger plug was unreachable without disconnecting exhaust completely. The code reader is not saying anything about o2 sensors that's just what parts store told me but I don't think that's the problem. The shop told me once they replaced injector that would fix it but again it did not so I'm gonna pay them a visit today.
I'm not sure where you can find it. I work at a shop that uses it. What I would do is go on their website, contact them, and ask where you can get it and who sells it. If it has a P0430 code and a fuel system service doesn't fix it, you may be looking at a converter. Try the service before you replace anything, and make sure that they spray the chemical into the throttle body, it's that spray that cleans the majority of everything.

B12 in the can and spray is at auto parts stores. B12 in the can is at Walmart. Techron is at auto parts stores. Wear nytril gloves and eye protection as they have acetone in them.

So after reading all of this it seems as you had a bad injector that may have been stuck open, then possibly fouled the plug. If the truck was misfiring like you stated then I would think that that you have a bad cat. That is what the p0430 is telling you. The cats do not react well to lots of unburnt fuel passing thru them. Although it could be a bad O2 sensor, the fact that you had misfiring issues would lead me to believe you have a fouled cat. I will post the OBD info for code p0420 below which is the same info for P0430. P0420 is bank 1 and P0430 is bank 2.
If I were you I would find a good exhaust shop that can test the cats for you. If they find a bad cat this may be an opportunity to instal high flow cats which will be much cheaper then OEM.

P0420
Description: Indicates the bank 1 catalyst system efficiency is below the acceptable threshold.
Possible
Causes:
- Use of leaded fuel
- Damaged heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)
- Out of range engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor
- High fuel pressure
- Damaged exhaust manifold
- Damaged catalytic converter
- Oil contamination
- Cylinder misfiring
- Downstream HO2S wires improperly connected
- Damaged exhaust system pipe
- Damaged muffler/tailpipe assembly
- Retarded spark timing
- Leaking fuel injector
Diagnostic Compare HO2S upstream HO2S11 and downstream HO2S12 switch rate and amplitude.

Aids: Under normal closed loop fuel conditions, high efficiency catalysts have oxygen storage
which makes the switching frequency of the downstream HO2S very slow and reduces the
amplitude of those switches as compared to the upstream HO2S. As catalyst efficiency
deteriorates, its ability to store oxygen declines and the downstream HO2S signal begins to
switch more rapidly with increase amplitude, approaching the switching rate and amplitude
of the upstream HO2S. Once beyond an acceptable limit the DTC is set.

Kev sent you some great diagnostic advise. Putting in new o2 sensor with a new catz is perty much a done deal with each other every time.

I've yet to fix the problem
But I've noticed every time I clear the code my code scanner has 6 monitors it checks every time. One is evap and it has always been incomplete every time I hook scanner up. Does anyone think this is contributing to the p0430 code?
