I know this has been discussed multiple times and i did wade through the hundreds of topics on it. I could not get a definitive answer on what i was looking for.

I'm looking to hear from guys who have already done this.

Will removing the back two cats only, make my check engine light come on?

Depends on if they are before or after the aft o2 sensor.

 

My cats are gone and the check engine light is on. Checked the codes with the hypertech and the codes are for the cats

Edit: re read your post and you said the rear cats. Mine are straight pipes, no cats.

 

taking your cats off wont throw codes. removing an oxygen sensor will though

 

With the 04-05 removing the rear cats is hit or miss on a CEL. If one pops up, use the Gotts O2 mod to eliminate any problems or get a quality custom programmer to turn off the rear O2's.

 

yeah, the setup is 2 cats, o2 sensors, then 2 cats. I've read alot in the forums of it being hit or miss taking the back 2 off. Just wanted to hear from people who have actually done it to know what the chances of the code are.

nvm, searched and found it. I think my cats are bad, when I park the truck and go inside for an hour or so and come out, I can touch everything but my cats. They are still hot as hell.
