Default Cat Removal

So I’ve done a lot of searching on this forum and other and can’t seem to find a definite answer. I’m a heavy duty diesel tech so gas jobbies and cat’s really aren’t my forte. Can I remove all 4 cat on my 04 150 FX4 5.4L and do the de-fouler mod on the rear O2 sensors or can I only remove the back 2 cats. Am i going to run into problems if i take out all 4?

Being a "diesel tech" and using the search here should have informed you the it is a federal offense to remove the cats, regardless of any non state inspections you may have or not have in your state.

Don't do it; you'll gain nothing but noise and a huge fine when caught.

I live in Canada where we have little to no emission laws. Using the search on the forum i found that many people have removed the back 2 cats with little or no problems. Hence my question about the front 2. Flaming people who are new to the forum and ask a simple question is not very inviting. Posting that i am a " Deisel tech" merly states that i know more about compression ignition then spark. Being some one that has over 4000 post, you kinda forget that in the begining you yourself probably asked a question that everyone else knew that answer to as well. Just my 2c.

Removing cats is just a touchy subject on here that usually gets a few people fired up. If I were you I would only remove the rear 2 cats. You won't have to fool with anything with the O2 sensors or any of that, and that's probably why most people leave the front 2. I think it gives the truck a little more toned exhaust note. Stock engines without any cats sound like the engine is about to fall out lol. 2 front cats with true duals sounds excellent, but hey that's just my opinion. Its all about what you want to do, I'm positive you know alot more about how these things work than I do. But I wouldn't trust the internet and forums for whether or not it will cause problems because the law-abiding, quiet truck lovers will tell you it will hurt your truck and the people who love loud trucks will tell you its good for it, too many biased people.

People on here like "Bucko" feel like they have to jump in on every cat removal post, and it's really quite annoying. We get the fact that it's "illegal", so stop posting about it 4,000 times. People will do what they want with the cats on their truck so get over it.

To the OP I would leave the front two and run duals like above, it will sound mean!

Wow thank you! It's just a little much sometimes. You only gotta say something once to get your point across I do realize that he is a moderator and respect that but ya like I said....

04lariat-what HID kit did you use? Plug and play? Cost? Thanks

Yeah but the line between moderator to cat removal **** shouldn't be crossed lol. And as for the HID's, I honestly don't know what brand, the balasts say "Autovizion" on them but i don't know if that is the brand. I just have a friend that does lighting and electrical work order them and install them. They were $240 and that included the fogs, and install was free

Nice, I put smoked housings on my 95 and my output sucks now so I've been looking at ddm tuning kits.

That isn't a very common line to cross lol becauseit shouldnt be crossed lol
