Default Cat Delete

Alright so my drivers side cat is completely plugged up and shot out. My exhaust shop said a new one will cost me $400 including installation. He also said that he could completely do away with that one cat, where I live does not have emissions tests so that is not a problem. My question is whether it will damage the truck in any way at all, and if I have the other cat, and a 50 series flowmaster muffler installed will it be that much louder than it is now? I eventually will buy the replacement, but around Christmas money gets tight. Thanks for any help.

Just gut it for now and replace it when you can. Be mindful that cats are a federal law and not having them carries a hefty fine if you get caught or the person you sell the truck to does. As far as noise its slightly raspier but not in a good way in my opinion. Of course some folks just want noise. I prefer a rumble/growl or a loud powerful deep rumble.

Didn't know you had a shutter. That's bad coils or plugs. Time for a tune up.

I went to ford and they scanned the truck, every time it would shudder the laptop read that the coil and plug on cylinder seven was bad....had it replaced, and immediately the shudder was still there!

The computter only tells them there's a misfire. If the spark and compression are good, that leaves the injector, which could also cause the misfiring, and could cause your cat to be plugged.
