You may need to bring it to ford for a scan...
thats a good idea to try it on another vehicle. i just thought it was odd that i tried two different units and neither of them could communicate with the truck. ill see if there is an update for the snap on unit but as far as i know its got all the latest and greatest updates.

i will look into that, but i dont recall removing any ground wires or straps during the rebuild. the cab was never removed from the frame but i did have the interior out except for the dash. but i left all of the peripheral cab wiring intact. only wires i unplugged were the seats, center console, interior lights, rear window, seat belts, and moonroof. i will double check the ground in the engine compartment. if that ground is broken would that cause any other symptoms other than the problem im having currently?

how are you connecting the reader to the truck?

is the truck running or turned on when you plug in the reader?

i connect the scanner to the truck without it running and with the key in the off position and i follow the instructions on the scanner. it will power up the scanner but is unable to retrieve the data from the truck.
