Default Cannot turn off perimeter lights!

So I have tried the owners manual instructions, tried the key FOB, tried the door panel controls... I cannot get the "chirp" when the programming mode is supposed to start, no honk when disabled/enabled. Yes the horn works - my kids test it for me daily.
I installed the HIDs last week and the perimeter lights need to be disabled.
I dont understand why I cant get it to go to programming mode.
Is there a relay that needs to be pulled out or a wire cut?

Any thoughts?

Why would you have to disable the running lights ?? that could be the problem.

Sorry, headlights need to be disabled when unlocking doors with remote so as not to decrease the life of the HIDs.

Enabling/disabling the perimeter lighting feature

Yourvehicle comes with the perimeter lighting feature enabled. All vehicle doorsmust be closed before beginning the procedure. You must complete Steps 1–5within 30 seconds, or the procedure will have to be repeated. If the procedureneeds to be repeated, you must wait a minimum of 30 seconds to begin again.

  • Turn the ignition to the 3 (ON) position, then press the control threetimes.
  • Turn the ignition to the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position, then press the controlthree times.
  • Turn theignition to the 3 (ON) position; the horn will chirp to indicate the driverconfiguration mode has been activated.
  • Within five seconds, press the control two times. Note: One hornchirp should be heard, indicating the system has been disabled. Conversely, a horn chirp followed by a honkwill indicate the system is enabled. Pressing the power door control two timesagain will turn the feature ON if it was previously OFF, or OFF if it waspreviously ON. Every two consecutivepresses of the control after successfully entering the configuration mode willchange the enable/disable condition of the feature.
  • Turn the ignition to the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position to exitprogramming.

Note: After exiting the driver configuration mode, the horn will chirp onceto indicate a feature has been activated/deactivated.

Idid all of this sitting inside the truck with it off, doors closed, headlightsto the OFF position, and I only used the DOOR unlock button. It worked for me the first time. I own a 2007 F-150.
