stp, thicker oil doesn't gain you mileage, it decreases it. That's why Fords new vehicles recommend such a light weight, coupled with the tighter tolerances in the engines these days.

The tight tolerances are cam bearings, rod bearings, crank bearings and items of that nature. You are also creating added stress on the oil pump, though that's typically not an issue. However, like with the phasers, the thicker oil will affect anything that is dependent on a certain pressure.

Has anyone else tried this yet... I'm so sick of the noise, I'm ready to get rid of my truck! I have a 2000 Exp 200,000 miles not one problem.........here i sit with a 2006 and have issues damn!
