I'm not familiar with that specific warranty, but I know phasers are considered an internally lubricated, valve train component, so it should be covered as long as you're inside the coverage window and you're not violating any terms like driving without oil or not doing regular service.
My local Ford dealer says they honor any warranry except Fidelis (the one Rusty Wallace is pitching during every commercial break).
Just call your nearest dealer and speak to the service manager. Call your warranty too, they can confirm your coverage on that item.

What's the best warranty to buy out there right now? I've got about 71K on 04 F150?

Call up your local dealership and ask the service manager. They of all people will know which warranties are good since they are the ones dealing with them the most.

Good idea!
I searched BBB and WarrantyDirect gets their highest ratings of A+ so that would be a good place to start. The Ford ESP seems to cover 7 years from date of first purchase which won't help me that much.

Default Manufacturer Failure, Dealer Denial Cam Phaser are Bad Design

Sale It! Bottom line if you have a Ford with a motor that has cam phasers, or technical term "Camshaft Variable Valve Timing Actuator Sprocket" Sale it! Bad, bad design, is a manufacturer engineering fault, anything that uses mechanical and hydraulic controls is bound to have a glitch, specially using the oil pressure to run a hydraulic mechanical timing part. Oil pressure always goes up or down and in time with wear, and sludge build up oil pressure is not going to be what it was. If Ford was a reputable company, they would design a mechanical phaser with weights and springs like an old chevy distributor timing adjuster and put out a recall and change these out. But here is what they do, problem actually starts about 45k miles, starts as a mild tick, a rough idle occasionally, then progresses to worse. The thing is Ford won’t say they did it wrong and the dealership, they don't do anything without making a dime (actually dollars lots of dollars). So the dealership ploy, you bring your ford in for a tick or a rough idle and they say they can’t find anything wrong or that is normal for that motor (of course its normal because it is a bad design). Bring it back and they do something like with ours, change some sparkplugs, tell you it is a bad coil, change the oil and send you away, thinking your fixed, not and not covered under warranty so you pay for work (again dealerships get dollars lots of dollars). They keep the denial game on until it is out of warranty. Now you are looking at a fix that should have been done at fords cost, but now your left holding the bill. An honest dealer knows it is $300 for the phasers and takes 6 to 7 hours to do. Should cost $1000. If your handed a estimate of $3000 or anything higher than $1200 you are dealing with a dishonest dealership, report, report, report them to anywhere you can to help other consumers avoid them and then go find yourself a reputable mechanic. Now bottom line, this is a problem you either live with and put out the money to repair it every 50,000 miles or pass it on to someone else by selling the vehicle.

I had a dealer quote me $3500 because they have to replace the heads due to oil passages tht getter blocked and they have a tendency to crack when re-torquing them down, but they told me not to do the job due to it could be bad again in 10 miles or 100,000 miles as it is no guaruntee
