Default Cam phaser noise

I have a 2004 f150 5.4 V8 and recently it has started to tick, at idle and when driving. i had it at my local ford dealership and they said it was cam phaser noise. Do I have to get them replaced , does it eventually lead to engine damage. I flushed the engine and put in injector cleaner and the noise is still there. Is there a dealership in Calgary canada that specialises in replacing the cam phaser , if so how much approximately should it cost.

I just had my cam phaser replaced. From what they said it wont do any damage its just an annoying noise. I got mine fixed under warranty. They said it would be about $1,000 if I had to pay. They take the top of the engine apart i believe. Its great now, no noise. It doesnt sound like a diesle anymore.

well while under warranty my shop said it was a normal noise... now they tell me the same. cam phaser and 1000 to 1200... love my ford certified technicians... they always make sure they get me the right part, for the highest price, slowest repair time, and wont stand behind their work...

I don't mind the diesel noise but I just don't want it the broke during a trip and break something else.
For 2000$ I can endure the diesel noise...

ya thats what i thought. then they went. gas mileage went to absolutely nothing and what little power the truck had was gone, it barely had an idle at lights and would stall when idleing. If you can, just get it over with. I wish i would have.

According to my dealer, cam phasers are noisey around 750-1000 rpm and cost me 700 for 1 side and did not fix my complaint. They informed me now I need a short block assembly, due to noise traced to lower motor.

My 07 5.4 had the tick too came at 28,000 miles now the truck needs a new motor. While the cam phasers tick it's also eating away at the timing chain & cover so bad that the cover was paper thin. I only drove with the tick for about 2 day before going to the dealer. any longer and it would of siezed. metal shavings all over the place just a matter of time before the caught on somthing. BEWARE OF THE TICK.
