Default Cam Phaser Issue

I think I'm having a cam phaser issue. 20K miles on a rebuilt engine. All new OEM timing set. Melling M340HV oil pump. I'm getting the phaser knock but I'm not sure what side. My scanner shows Bank 2 really advancing, 50 degrees sometimes, but Bank 1 barely moving. I did swap the VCTs and still the same. Luckily the Ford OEM parts have a 2 year warranty, I actually had to tell Freedom Racing that. They did confirm with Ford.

I really don't want to take off both valve covers to find the one that is bad.

Which one is likely to be bad?

Thank you,

Ken

Bank 1 (passenger side) is typically the first one to go. I'm shocked your new phasers with new oil pump went so soon. What oil do you use?

I thought I read somewhere that Freedom Racing isn't that great of a company to buy from. Was the engine rebuilt by them, or was it something like a Jasper engine being sold through them? Maybe those phasers are actually Dorman phasers?

Been a while since I've looked but I believe that was from a long time back. Earlier on they were selling some off-brand phasers/other stuff. Pretty sure they gave that up after having problems and went with only the OEM phasers.

ShirBlackspots - I only bought the timing kit through them. It was an all OEM kit. I had my block rebuilt locally and I bought rebuilt heads from a company in Texas.

They have a couple of timing kits available. I went with the all OEM one.
