Just buy an OEM phaser. It’s worth every cent.

Some trivial information to boot though... Dorman has updated their cam phaser to a new number... Seems they’re attempting to correct their premature failures.

We bought some aftermarket phasers from freedom racing. They seem to be doing good. I'm still fighting another problem though.

Yeah I agree. If you can afford to motorcraft is the best.

Shadetree, how much time or miles do you have on those replacement phasers so far?

I've been running these phasers for about 10 mos. But only about 5000 miles. I've been fighting a rattle on start up. I thought at one point it was the phasers so freedom racing was going to warranty them. We bought another set to get it fixed asap and we'd send the other set back and get a refund. But when I put the new phasers in I had the exact same problem. So the phasers seem to be doing good but I might not be a good example. I have an extra set of CNC phasers that I know are good though.

Motorcraft all the way. Unless you want to do it again and again. Just what I've heard I used Motorcraft in mine and it's working great a year and a half later. Also phasers are not the problem they're a symptom of low oil pressure caused by other problems in the timing system. A full timing job using good parts is the only way I've heard to fix it and thats what I did. No problems since my timing job.

Yeah I agree. MC is the way to go. I've been around and around with mine. What if you have good oil pressure new melling oil pump new tensioners twice now iron ones. New cloyes chains and still have the cold start rattle. Go MC and do everything at once. More money now but you will pay it at some point. Just my thoughts

New FordTech video explains yet again why you shouldn't cut corners on MC phasers:
