A/C question
F150 Freak... That could be a possibility of a couple of things. 1. Low on Freon 2. The Fins on your condensor might be clogged up with bugs, dirt, ect. 3. Your orifice tube could be clogged up.
Try this... With your truck cranked and someone to idle the engine to 1500 RPMs, take a water hose and spray your condenser, if it cool quickly then you know you have inadequate air flow and either need to clean out the fins, or you have a blockage in your condenser.
Hook up some manifold guages and read your low and high side. Check your readings against a chart to see if they match up. If your low side is lower than spec then you need to add a little more freon for it to match up. Just dont overcharge the system or you will be replacing the whole system..
Look to see if your A/C lines are sweating. If they are not sweating with the compressor on, then you might be low on freon..
Tough Fx4 - If your A/C is working fine, then DO NOT add anymore freon. You will overcharge the system and you will be forking out ALOT of money.

Now that the weather is warming up, I was wondering the same thing. My AC is just so-so most of the time, but really cranks out the ice when I put it on "recirculate". I was thinking of giving it a top-off as well.
I have a Suburban that I top off regularly. Alsatropine, are you saying that the Ford system can be overcharged with a can? The GMC just stops taking freon when the pressures equalize between the can and system. I"d hate to screw up my system!

Mine is the same way. It's always been that way. I think the A/C systems in these models are just a slight bit weak for the cab.
