Default A/c acting strange???

2006 lariat super cab 5.4L

I have noticed that when accelerating to pass someone or get on the highway that my A/C cuts out on me. The fan keeps blowing but it is hot air. It only happens when I have to accelerate to get around someone quick. Under all other normal conditions it works like a champ. I have never run into this problem before on any vehicles. Was wondering if anyone had any advice where to start?

Thanks.

It's designed to cut off the AC for those few seconds while you are accelerating so that you get optimum performance and power to get around the "slow drivers" haha.

I'm having this same problem too. Have you had anyone check to see if your low on freon? I haven't had time to take mine in yet. I just bought my truck and is under dealership warranty, so their going to check it out. Until then I have to put up with it.

like backinblack said, it automatically cuts off when you accelerate past a certain point, if your ac kept going when you accelerate. . . you would loose a few horses

Not sure about OP but mine won't come back unless I manually shut off the AC wait 15mins then turn it back on

Thanks backinblack. I had a feeling that's what it was since that was literally the only time it did it. And Chuckanut mine comes right back on after I pass the lovely individual in the left lane doing 55 in a 70.
