Even if the truck of your choice looks and runs good, crawl underneath with a flashlight and look closely at the frame. Trucks of this year from the Northeast have been salted during the winter months. If they have not been cleaned and maintained properly during the winters, they will be very rusty. The cross members lose their integrity and sometimes completely go away.
My old 2000 looked good up top. Ran like new. Underneath it was a disaster. One cross member was completely gone.

with routine maintenance 04-08 trucks are as good an option as anything.

Agreed. My 2004 is great.
Little to no rust underneath due to good maintenance and washing frequently during the winter.
I have looked underneath at others that I would not care to drive.

Anyways to my question:

Going to buy a 04-08 in the next few weeks been reading and researching. My question is there a best year or model to buy. I will be getting a supercrew. I keep reading the the FX4 models have a ton of issues in this year range. Which sucks because I love the way they look.

Any advice may save me money down the road thanks.
I didn't realize the FX4 models had a bad name for known problems. I have a 05 SCREW FX4 and love it! I recommend one.

He don't know what he is talking about... FX4/king Ranch/XLT/Platinum are just sub models of the same basic truck ...
