Default broken passenger mirror

My mirror on the passenger side looks like it was hit with a rock, hammer or something and it broke the mirror only. The power adjuster works well and I can see no other damage. Question is: can I replace this mirror myself without taking the whole thing apart????

the mirror glass is only broke? or the housing itself? mirror glass just snaps in, to remove the mirror assembly you need to remove the door panel and 3 or 4 nuts i can't remember for sure.

The housing is fine....nothing wrong at all. If I read you right Atom, the mirror itself just snaps into place, so I should be able to use a pair of screwdrivers and pop it out...yes???

Default Mirror

If this is like my T-Bird (power adjustable mirrors), the replacement glass has a rubber or plastic piece attached to it. You just snap it onto the socket in the housing and you're done (no tools required). If you have any other options like heating etc that has connections, I don't know.

Might be able to get one at a junkyard. I think the one for my TBird was something like $30-$40 about 10-15 years ago.

Good luck

Go to Google and do a search on "automotive glass mirror". I can't remember the site name, but there's a business that sells replacement outside mirror glass; pre-cut, tinted, or heated if your options required it. It comes ready to install.

take the mirror glass and have a flashlight handy when you do this, push the bottom of the glass in and look behind it. you will see plastic fingers, 4 i think, that hold the glass onto the motor, take a long flat headed screwdriver and pop them off, remove glass, if you have heated mirrors, there will be a connector to remove to. new one just snaps in, however BE CAREFUL THE MIRROR GLASS IS QUITE FRAGILE AND YOU CAN BREAK IT WITHOUT EVEN TRYING. also don't buy aftermarket glass, go oem, the cheap junk gets black spots in the mirror glass over time.

Not always. The one I mentioned sells OEM replacement glass. So, you can buy from Ford, or from an aftermarket that sells OEM quality.

Good to note though that you need to ask the seller.....
