Back when car alarms came out they were worth it because people did pay attention. These days people could care less. The other day I was at the local mall and the security truck evendrove past a car with an alarm going off. There was no one arond the car. My hubby used to drive a wrecker and he has tought me how to jimmy cars and trucks for those nights I went out to ride with him. Trucks are very easy. Truck makers need to realize that everyday people now drive thes things and give them the better locks like the cars. The newer cars have such a system that you cannot get a jimmy in there because more and more is electronic.

you can still jimmy a car with electronic locks, it is just harder to do from the outside.

I have gotten into many friends cars with a coat hanger in between the weather stripping and the door frame, and just pushed the unlock switch.

I have also gotten into trucks by popping the lock on the sliding rear window with a credit card, and then just sliding it open.

I also got into my Friends dodge because my key was cut similar to his so I could just "bump" it open.

if someone wants into your car, they will get in, and that is why I love living where I do, we never lock our doors, and I don't think I even know where the keys are to the front door of our house, but come on in, but the gun cabinet is 10 feet from where I sleep.

No kidding about the whole door thing. I do lock mine but not the dead bolts. First off if they can make it past my dog they are lucky. He is half Pit Bull. Next I can shot my shotgun from my hip. God help anyone that comes near my kids.

they make metal plates that go in behind your door handles that don't allow for the screw driver method. someone tried to break into my dad's truck and that was the first thing he bought after that. but it is really easy to break into trucks (especially with the weatherstrip method).

i think the best thing would be the metal behind the door locks. they seem pretty solid and hard to get past.

I have an alarm on my truck and I think that saved me at least 1 break-in. It may annoy those around, but for most thiefs they aren't going to stick around when that alarm starts sounding. For professionals or guys who really know what they're doing they can get around an alarm in a matter of minutes, but even they won't mess with a vehicle if nothings visible. Hiding your stuff is probably your best means of theft deterent.

the only problem is my indash cant really be concealed...i need to get my windshield re tinted because that is wat completes the darkness of the interior of my car, and really makes it difficult to see in....in day or night...from any angle...ever since the accident, its easier to see into my car from close up, or far away...and i cant re tint everything else because i have ppl that wont let me...i wanted to limo the back, 15% the front windows, and 35% the windshield...but for now, only 35% windshield is what i see coming...

If you area has a high auto theft rate put in a kill switch. Attach it to the fuel pump power. Harder to bypass. The vehicle will start then shut off. The thief will not want to find out why the vehicle quit.
I have a Clifford Viper II, I know it's old but it came with the truck, and if someone tries to hotwire the truck, the alarm will shut off the ignition system and/or the fuel and the truck won't start.

yeah exactly...its ilegal...but...the only time that it appears DARK is when the windows are up...ie: when raining, or when car is parked...i always drive with my windows down, so to a cop or some1 else, it looks normal...but it helps me because i tend to forget my sunglasses in my room or in my parents cars...but once the windows are up, it is very dark...and honestly looks like an undercover cop car is what many ppl have told me...
