Default Brake Controller Help

My family and I are in the process of purchasing a new TT. The TT needs a brake controller. My question is about the connection for the brake controller. I also currently have a Edge Evolution, does anyone know if this one also plugs into the same port (OBD-II)?

This is the one i am looking at. Please feel free to also offer suggestions on a break controller.

I have the same brake controller and its very nice and that adapter is the one you need too. There is a pigtail under your dash that it will plug into. Its not the obd port, its to the right of it, you will see it once you look under there. Also make sure you put the fuse in that charges your breakaway battery, you might have the fuse in the glove box if purchased new. If used someone might have taken it out of the glove box, which is what happened to me

Thanks for the reply. I was also curious about the fuse. I am not the original owner so there is no fuse, unless its hiddden. I did speak with the original owner and he said he never towed with it so i am assuming he never inserted it. Where should the fuse be inserted and what exactly does it control?

It is relay not a fuse sorry, The relay is located on the passenger side kick panel. Check your owners manual and locate the trailer tow relay and match the diagram up with your fuse box to find the relay location. You will clearly be able to tell if there is a relay in that location or not. If not mine was 9 dollars from advanced. The relay supplys a trickle charge to yours breakaway system for your electric trailer brakes, through your 7 pin connector of course. So once you put the relay in then when your trailer is hooked up and key on the battery will be charging. Basically there is a little battery connected to your trailer brake breakway system that will, if charged, apply the brakes to your trailer if it were to breakaway from your truck while towing. Glad i could help

Thanks again, I checked and there is No relay in the spot according to the manual but the 30 Amp fuses are there. Any idea where the cheapest place is to get one and the part number?

The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller is the best on the planet, bar none.

I did not shop around. I got the one advanced auto had it was 9 dollars. As far as the part # i dont know i threw away the box. Just take the relay below it, make sure it fits in the slot above it (it does) and get one just like it they will match it up for you in the parts store. Just double check before you leave that all the numbers on the relay pins match and your good to go.

Thanks. That's what I was planning on doing. Going to advanced pulling the one next to it and taking it in. Thanks again!

Everything I read says this is one of the best. Just wanted some fellow f150ers opinion.

Yep you made the right choice, can't go wrong with that one. I keep spare fuses and relays for all the trailer lights and brakes in my TT not in the vehicle because I have my truck and my wife's Expedition set up to pull. That way if I need a spare I don't have the "left it in other vehicle" issue.

Just a note.

Thats a good idea. I have called all auto parts stores and none have the Full ISO Relay for the Trailer tow battery charge and have been unsuccessfull so far. I plan on calling the stealerships tomorrow. Advanced auto parts says they can order it for $36 but it will take a week to get it in. Am i safe towing withouth this relay? I have double checked and all the other relays and fuses are there. Is the emergency trailer disconnect brakes the only thing that is controlled by this? Or should i wait to pick it up until i have this relay? We have an appointment to pick up the trailer this weekend.
