Default Just pads?

If it's just pads, don't waste your money, assuming you are technically savvy with your vehicle. My dealership wanted to charge $149. per axle, when the pads at the time were only $45. per axle. (This was about 2 yrs ago)

I had pads and rotors for $300. And they greased everything and made sure it was all in working order. Probably could have done it myself, but more of a convenience factor for me.

I do all my brake work my self so I don't know what they would charge but if you do take it to a dealer I would recomend going and buying pads somewhere else. I'm guessing the motor craft pads are the same that come on our trucks from the factory and they suck. In my opinion they don't have very good stopping power and your wheels stay black from brake dust. But that's just my opinion.

I'm contemplating the green stuff pads when I'm due again.

Brakes....I used to do all my own but now it so convenient to let a shop do it..I have had good luck with my local dealer but only if I have a special savings coupon! Otherwise I go to a trusted independent shop that does excellent work.

Thanks for the replies. My 07 5.4L v8 XLT has 75,000 miles on original breaks. So, I guess I'm happy with the OEM breaks however I know all about the dust and it drives me crazy. I usually wash my truck once a week and my wife thinks I have some OCD issues but if you don't get that dust off quickly it's hard to remove it.

So, since I'm happy with my ford service department, I'm just going to drop it off tomorrow and let them do their thing.

I was quoted over $500 just for rear pads and rotors at Firestone when they did a tire rotation and saw how shot my rear brakes were.

I ended up replacing them myself last weekend and spent $82 and a half hour of work.

Dealerships almost always charge more than other shops so expect to pay alot.
