Default Bouncing bed

Is it normal for the bed to bounce up and down while driving, especially over bumps?

I can look in my rearview mirror and see it move.

I checked it tonight and its solidly bolted to the frame. The shocks also seem good.

Ive got a vibration in the steering wheel that I believe is caused by the cheap junk tires that are on the truck. Could the bed movement also be related to that issue?

I plan on getting new tires real soon even though the ones on it only have 3k on them (dealer put them on but theyre crap tires).

my bed does the same thing, o4 lariat screw. everything is tight, it just bounces and moves with the road. kinda makes you wonder how rigid that frame is.

same here, however i watched a vid on youtube about bed movement that was posted on this site, they drove this class of trucks on an off road course, apparently our trucks are the best at minimizing frame twist resulting in the bed moving separately from the cab. i can look in my rearview mirror though and see the exact same thing you're describing.. (single cab)

This is the video that’s been all over this site http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWjTbiYo3x0. I thought the bed on my truck bounced a lot more than my previous trucks but apparently the F150 is a lot better than others. You also mentioned the frame but the F150 has one of the strongest frames too here’s another video showing frame strength. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRfE_XAk2mE

Damn. I never wouldve thought that was normal. I know my brother's '01 F150 doesnt do that and my other brother's Ram doesnt either.

I was surprised to see it happen on the highway because its not all that bumpy.

I'm puzzled with some of these responses. We do realize we drive a truck, right? The empty bed is going to bounce on you. It's bolted to the frame, with small rubber spacers between it and the frame. Anytime the rear wheels go over a bump, this will transfer to the bed. Think your truck is bad? Watch some of those trucks that have been "slamed"; They bounce better than J-Lo's *** at a disco.

Place some weight in it, say some wood, some construction equipment, some bricks, a motorcycle, you know, stuff a truck was built for doing.

Or connect a trailer to it. Pull something. Use it for what it was designed for.

My wife complains that her BMW doesn't have a big enough trunk....when I tell her to trade it for a pickup or SUV, she gives me the strangest look; go figure.
