Default blacked out tail-lights

has anyone here tried just going to the store, buying some 5%tint and laying it over your taillights? I have a 06 and my tails are smooth so I dont believe it would be that hard. I am trying to get that blacked taillight look and it just makes sense to me that it might work. I plan on getting aftermarkets one day but I just figured why not try it out...and If it works good, why not the headlights as well?! anyone have any opinions about it?

Buy Niteshades or some other window tint in a can and use that to tint your tailights. I used Testors model RC car window tint and clear and they look good, although I wish they were a little darker.

Most body shops know what to do, they mix black with clear coat and do a layer at a time and it comes out ****.....thats the real way to do it and it won't fade, won't be flat, and will look professional....if you know what you are doing you can do it at home yourself too if you have a compressor and a spray gun

Why not just buy the Harley edition tail lamps? They retail at $47.73 each and it would be cheaper than taking them to a body shop.We sell them at our store for $34.37 each.

Are laws less strict in other parts of the country than in the lidwest on tinting tail lamps? We get pulled over here for tinted tail lamps.

But if they aren't not dark enough I would go the Niteshades route and then clear coat afterwards.

its judgement of the cop and the local enforcement...usually domestics dont get bothered as much...however its not always true

Half the stuff on the trucks where i live doesn't even work, If its even there at all, so the cops really don't say to much about tint or anything like that. Just as long as you have working head lights your pretty much good here. But i wouldn't try buying window tint and putting it on. The spray on tint will be a lot easier, and if you do good prep it's probably going to last longer too.
