Default Best tuner/programer ?

I have been thinking about getting a Power programer / tuner for my 04 lariat. What are a few good ones on the market ? I see everyone selling the sct tuners , is that because they are not good ? Is there better out there.

SCT and edge are by far the most popular tuners for the f series.

I just bought an SCT livewire for my 06 fx4. I like it. it didn't help my mpg any but I'm gonna order a custom tune to help that. Also I'm running 35s so that could be why. I love the way it changed the shift firmness though. It also made my truck quite a bit quicker. And I can do a solid brake torque burnout. Hope this helps

I've currently got the edge evolution but I'm swapping it out for the SCT X3 so I can get custom tunes for all my mods and cut my cats without any codes. Both do the same thing except SCT allows custom tunes. Edge is small and looks nice in the dash kit. Do some googling to pick whichever suits your needs best

The Edge Evo does good on my '04. Perked up the 4.6 and made everyday driving a little more fun.
I have no experience with other tuners.

Everyone's needs are different. Do the research and pick the best for your application. The Edge CS was my choice and I have no regrets. Mounted it in the dash pod where it's both beautiful and functional.

I notice the Edge lists cold air intakes supported under the level 3 but I can't find anything that confirms support for headers? I may have to go with the SCT for that reason

I don't know why most don't get an Xcal3 and a real dyno tune? Sure its double the cost, but I guarantee you are leaving a lot on the table. These plug and plays and mail order tunes are set up to be stupid safe.
