For the most part, anything over 50% of CCC will be "totaled" anything over 70% laws say the vehicle must be totaled.

This is based off actual cash value in your state, not kbb or edmunds...

11K in damages, I'd have to estimate that your the frame is gonna be a minimum of 4,500..

So you will atleast be at 15-16k, likely 17-18 k in damage by the time it's all said and done.

So, if your truck has a actual cash value of 25k or less, your truck will be totaled, no questions.... They grey area is every state is different, every insurance company is a lil different, some companies total at 50%, some don't total at 69.99%....

Unless it's a human....... never swerve to miss anything.... usually you end up in a worse situation....

It's a wrong instinct.

Actual cash value, minus deductible- minus whatever you owe on it if anything.

Will you have to get a salvaged title? I know a guy who buys wrecked Porsches, straightens the frames on them, restores them, then resells them. The title has to say salvaged, but they ride good as new because he is meticulous and has all of the proper tools.

Should have hit the deer, the truck sits up high enough that the bumper and grill would probly get all the damage. 2K looks a lot better than 11K and you would have fresh vension on the table.

no salvage title bc the cost of repair has to be pretty close to the value but i hope not ha, would suck for resale!

You'll have to check your state laws.....

In Iowa, you would be getting a salvaged title.... You would then have to get a salvage theft exam, to insure parts used were not stolen. Then they would give you a title that has "prior salvage" stamped on it, prior salvage will never go away, but it is not as bad as having a salvaged title.

My math must be off, if the damage is 14,500 and the value is under 20,500.... pretty sure federal law says it must be totaled...... even if the damage is 21,000 that comes out to 69% and most all companies would consider it totaled.

I would be questioning your adjuster if I was you.

1. Question the fair market value, see what similar trucks in your local area are going for, ask him to see his fair market value report, then if his number is higher, show him your numbers

2. Get more estimates on the work.

3. Do not settle for the first word, especially with the numbers you gave, that is sooooooooooooooooo close to the 70 % number

Unless you want your truck fixed, you shouldn't have to settle for that.

Quite frankly, I think this adjuster is screwing you.
