If you use the camera in the factory tailgate handle, be aware that the picture you will get while the tailgate is down will be a nice view of the road under the bumper! As long as the tailgate is closed, your fine. (don't forget to lock this tailgate handle to help thwart someone from stealing the tailgate). The camera that goes around the licence plate, or mounts to the top of the license plate can be easily stolen, so use some specialty screws/nuts to prevent this.

Also, was the factory navigation unit you have set up to provide a reverse camera view? While the factory units were made by Pinoneer (identical to the D2 units I believe), they had to be sent out and reprogrammed to provide for the backup camera option. I have a 2007 factory nav unit, and it does not have a rear camera option; I'd have to send it out to have it programmed to work.

You won't be able to (program it) that I've read about. Thre are a few places that will do this for you. Search on this site for them by looking for posts on "factory GPS", and reading through the threads/posts for the names of places that do this.

The factory GPS unit that was used in the 2006 to 2009 F150's was identical to the Pioneer D2 unit that had a backup camera, plus it would play DVD's. You could most likely get that to work as well, although it would be a dangerous distraction to a driver (who might watch a movie playing while driving).
