Did Ford fix the spark plug issue and phaser issue in the 2008 5.4 or is it the exact same as it was in 04?

 

Spark plug issue, as in the two piece plugs that broke trying to remove, yes this was fixed in 2008, but the early 2008's may still have the 2 piece plugs, it all depends on the engine manufactured date. Easiest way to tell is brown coil boots are the new plug design, black is the old.

 

It's any easy fix now though. I had a ford mechanic do mine and paid him $150 and he had the special tool... I think 1 or 2 broke but it was an easy removal for him with the tool.

 

Ok great. But what about the phaser issue was that fixed as well

yes they did... depending when your motor was built.. after 10/07/07 your good

 

How am I able to tell when it was built

 

There should be a sticker on your driver's side valve cover, otherwise some go by the color of the cops. I go by MFG date on the valve cover.

 

If you have factory BROWN boots, you have newer! If you have BLACK boots, you better buy the Lisle Kit!


My 08 5.4 had brown boots!

 

Well I found a sticker on the cover that says 7g 600 bb. And below it it has a date of 4/21/08 is this correct? Also I don't think I'm following on the brown boots can someone post a picture of what exactly I'm looking for please. Thank you
