Default Backspacing???

I'm running a new set of 285-70R17 on stock 17's no clearance issues at all. I want to get a new set of rims and I'm trying to understand back spacing a little better. I want to get a set of rims that move my tires out a little. What is +\-. I understand the concept just not what moves it I nor out.

Negative moves it out, positive keeps it tucked. You 4wd and do you have a level?

Yeah 4x4 and 3" level. I'm embarrassed to say that I do everything on my own and I'm a diesel mechanic... Haha

With that being said and if you plan on staying with the 33s, you can get away with running -12 offset which equates to 4.5 bs. For nine inch wide wheels a +35 will keep it similar to stock. So anything less than that will push them out some. If you ever plan on a suspension lift they usually require 4.5 inches bs. Similar to stock specs will allow largest tire fitment with just a level.

I'm running 35's with a zero offset, 9" wide, 20" rim... That's a 4.5 inch backspace, AKA zero offset... It fits a 35 x 12.5 r20" tire with a 2.5 level perfect.. No rub, even off road. The tires stick out past the fenders about a half inch or so.

Thanks for the info gentlemen... Now I just need to decide what rims to buy! Suggestions? Here's a picture of the truck as it sits now, the last couple were climbing a tree in my front yard, just some background info I wanted 35's but sliced 2 and the largest anyone had in stock for immediate install were the 33"...

Also I know most guys hate chrome and so do I for the most part, but I'm thinking about chrome along the rocker panels... What you think?

Please don't. That's too much chrome. Go for chrome wheels if that's what you're in to but not the chrome rockers.
Here are my tires and wheels. 17x8 vtec raptors 5.43 inches bs +25 offset. Zero rub with no trimming. 315/70/17. Pretty much 35s.

Thats actually a 5" backspace not 4.5"...4.5" BS on a 9" wide wheel is a -12mm offset. Thats what I have on mine now....Just wanted to be sure no one buys wheels with a 4.5" BS and then complains they wont fit on a 35" with just a level.

I like the way your setup is now Especial...If I didnt want a lifted truck, I would have exactly what you did. Nicely chosen.

I agree with Jerry, I think you should just look at wheels that have black and chrome or black and machined details in them...They would look great on your truck since you have chrome and black accents. Here are the two styles of wheels I have had over the past year.
