Default axle swap

Ok this might be a dumb question but I am new to the 4x4 world here but I have a 08 fx4 and I was wondering if or how hard it would be to put the axle from a 09 fx4 in it since the options for lockers for the 9.75 are rather slim and the 09 have a elocker already in them or let me know which lockers are avalible for the 9.75 and the 8.8 ifs axle you guys are running and how you like them I don't do any heavy offroading but down here around the coast in tx and on the beach traction is questionable in the sand in clay haha thanks everybody

i go to port aransas a bit and have never gotten stuck with just my limited slip... have need to engage 4x4 a few times. haven't gotten stuck in the clay either; however, I've only been mudding a half a dozen times. that clay is terrible to wash off! I had my truck when i lived in buffalo, ny and between the farm and the snow, I've only "had" to sue 4 low once. I've personally never had a locker in anything (my dad had a mechanical one in a blazer and it was terrible to drive on the road and you could hear the clicking in the cab) so take this for what it's worth but i don't see the need for a locker unless you are hardcore off-roading.

I tired to find specs to compare... the same lockers fit seem to fit all 9.75 f150 axles from '97 to '13 the half axles seem to be the same length for the 6 lug 9.75 but the bearing size seems to have changed. the same after market brakes seem to fit the 04-08 and the 09-13 9.75's. I would think it would work but i know the 09-13's have different leafs so the perches maybe wrong. even if they are, you may still be ahead of the game having to cut them off and wield new ones on if you can find them for a good price in a junk yard... you'll spend prolly at least $1200 on electric lockers and if you're not comfortable installing them, I'm guessing it will be another $1500 to have them installed

Well I have a 8" lift so my leaf spring mounts on the axle are already modified anyway so do in it again wouldn't be a big problem ya know
