I will second that. I just completed the above TSB and while it fixed some of the sound it did not fix it all. I found another TSB which states that the foam used to seal the defrost vents can fail and fall into the vent doors. This will not allow the vent doors to close all the way which causes an annoying sound when the system turns on and off. Now from what I read this problem can be found on all models. The kicker is you have to remove the entire dash to get to the vent doors. Sounds like I will be living with the little creator in my dash. Don't really care to tear my center console and dash out.

Mine does this same thing! Always wondered why... Thanks for the info, but just where in the dash is that motor that needs lubed? Is it in the center behind the HVAC controls?

It's kind of hard to tell where it is from the pics in the service manual. It's says its accessible from the left side under the instrument panel, looks like it is closer to the center.

here is what your looking for. As stated above you will find it under the drivers side dash. It's a pretty easy fix for an annoying problem. My noise seems to have completly went away as I did not hear it all day. Make sure you unplug the wire to the small electic motor and when you pull it off try not to move the two contol arms. This will change your blend doors causing your defrost to come on when you want your vents to come on or vise vs. It will make sense when you tear into it. I moved the arms when I tore it apart and had to make sure they were it the right posistion when I reassembled. Kind of a pain. If your carefull you won't have this problem. I would recomend turning the auto botton to manual and turn the vents on before turning your truck off and starting this process. This will make it easier finding the right posistion if you do move the arms. Hope this makes sense it should once you start let me know if I can help.

ok guys I read all the posts on this subject and only found one with my problem. 2006 screw Harley Davidson 5.4. Auto climate quit working' the control lights come on but no display and no functions, all fuses are good. Went out last year about this time and dealership replaced a resistor in the driver side fuse box. Its still under warranty so ill be taking it back on monday. All it does is make a whining noise and the whole unit stays warm like its overheating. any ideas?

Default climate control

When I select the automatic function it sends it to the defroster vent instead of the vents on the dash. What could cause that problem? 2003 F-150 Lariat.

How do I test a problem with my electric seats on my F=150?

Sorry I know this is an old post but having the same issue. Where exactly is this? I am not following it and hoping it is a simple fix.
