SAS is Solid Axle Swap. So that means swapping the independent front suspension for a solid axles like the 250 and 350s have. I'm sure it can be done, but is it worth the price.

advantage is a solid axle up front lol. can get rid of that annoying iwe crap and have some warn locking hubs. sooooo much better.

i remember somewhere that you need a adapter for the transfer case or something because its on the wrong side if i remember right, which i ususally dont lol

post a build thread if you do it, would be awesome to see

One of the guys that used to be here(ogterror) is sas'ing his i believe. Last i heard hes putting 36 grand into it. But he is dropping it off and someone else is screwing with it. And he's also got like 150 grand into his truck, so his sas is allllll performance. If you do the work yourself, and ebay alot of the major components, i bet you could keep it under 10 grand easy. But youd be our of a truck for a while until you finishn

i was just thinking of getting junkyard axles to rebuild, nothing too crazy. I was thinking of doing a 6" lift, but if I could do it the same or close to the cost of a SAS then I'd rather go that way for obvious reasons.

SAS is gonna be pretty damn expensive specially if you're not doing the work yourself. Bunch of custom fabrication work probably 5k plus, if you want just a 6" inch lift i reckon it will be faster, cheaper and easier just to get a nice lift kit for the IFS. Personally I wouldn't go to a straight axle unless I was building a serious mud truck

ive only seen two 04-08s with a sas. one was a show truck on 52's, the other was a purpose build mudder on tractor tires. stock motor was gone and replace with a 500 something ci BBC.

i havent seen any built for practical use
