Sounds like you got screwed man. My dad had a similar thing when he bought a 6.0 powerstroke. It'd die going down the road. Took it in on dealers warranty, it sat for over a week, he got it back, wasn't fixed, on and off until the warranty was up. Went in to the dealer, said sometbing about getting a lawyer and they gave him his money back.

Did you buy the warranty for the truck or was it sold to you with warranty? If they sold to you with warranty they they are liable for the repair regardless of whether or not the insurance will take care of it. Try talking with them first and try very hard not to lose your head in the process. If they will not repair let them know that you will explore other options of resolving. Then file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau Automotive Complaints Division, you can do this for free on line. If they react to that which in my experience they always do you'll know within a week. If that doesn't work find a local attorney that will take them to court or at least write them a letter stating that they'll take them to court. If you can't find an attorney that will do this for a reasonable price take them to court yourself. Good luck and hope you prevail.

Awesome
They put a warranty on the truck, which means THEY were gambling it would make it past the 4500 miles you said it was covered for. They lost, and provided you got it in writing that it was under warranty, personally I'd offer them 3 options at this point.

A- Put an engine, in good working condition(have an independent mechanic check under those valve covers for sludge ect before the install) in the truck and continue with the warranty you had on said engine.

B- They take the truck back(refund your money basically)

C- A visit with your warranty paperwork to a good attorney if they refuse. I'm the last one to resort to legal action, but you're looking at thousands for a new engine here.

Lastly, from this point on, have everything involved with this deal in writing.

I went through a similar situation a few years ago, bought a 2006 GMC Sierra Z71 with 75k miles, no warranty(dummy me) and 6 months later spent 4k on a remanufactured engine. So I totally know where you are coming from.

I think they made a mistake and sold you a cash for clunkers rig. Seriously though, that sucks pretty bad. There are some pretty good options on here provided by all the posts, at least enough to give you a little ammo for them.....

I bought a F250 from a dealer 2 years ago on a Saturday got home everything was just fine, went to work for 16 hours and noticed a huge oil puddle under the truck Sunday afternoon whenever I got off work, called the dealer Monday morning and the service manager refused to even look at it, I was in the same boat your in I purchased a warranty with it. I talked to the owner and let him know that I would bring the truck up by his dealership and park it up the road and write all over it I bought this lemon at the ford dealership it didn't take him very long to get it right into service dept. Tuesday morning... Just takes a little persuasion to get what ya want every once in a while..

Hope things work out for you man. That is a real killer, being in the hole that much without anything to show for but a truck with no motor. I'd say fight it all you can until you get what you paid for.

Well Everyone, Finally got it resolved. The warranty company was willing to pay ($4000) to put an engine in that had 82k from a salvage yard. I asked what a remanned motor would cost....$6900....I opted for a remanned engine and I would pay the difference.

I have to give a shoutout to the dealer I took it to get it serviced (Independence Ford) Awesome guys. And thanks to everyone on here.
