Default Another Tire Thread...

Hey guys i own a 2008 FX4 and am going to be purchasing new tires soon and just wanted to get a little feedback. I have a leveling kit on my truck but not sure what brand or even how big since the previous owner put it on. Truck sits pretty level so i assume its about a 2", maybe 2.5".

Ok so i have narrowed my choices down to either BFG A/T's or Nitto Trail Graps. I know, i know, another BFG vs Nitto thread. But not really. I have decided i will be happy with either, i just want the right size so im hoping to see pics and/or get any feedback for the sizes im considering and if any of them might not fit. I will be mounting them on my stock 18in FX4 wheels. Also, i will be keeping my stock 3.73 gears (at least for now) and plan on getting a gryphon in the near future. The sizes im considering are:

BFG - 305/65/18 - ~33.6x12
Nitto - 275/70/18 - ~ 33.2x10.8
Nitto - 295/65/18 - ~ 34.3x11.6 - need to re-gear?? Fit Fx4 rim?

Pics of any of the above setups is what im really interested in!

Yes, i have used the search function so need need to come in and waste your time posting something irrelevent.

Thanks in advance!!

I do not have any pictures but I went with the 275/65-20 and really like the look. That woudl be comparable to the 285/65-18 Nitto you have narrowed your search down to. I also chose to go with the goodyear duractrac but the nitto was a good looking and good performing tire from what reveiws I read. There will be no fitment issues on the FX4 wheel and no need to regear unless you plan on jumping bigger than a 35 one day. Just my two cents. But to throw this out there, I love my Duractracs!!

Here are a couple of pictures. I know the wheel size is different and the tire brand is different but these are abotu 34.1 inches tall and I like the feel and the look.

Thanks Brandon! Great looking truck too! I did consider the duratracs but heard they wear a little quicker than the other two im looking at and were a little more expensive as well. A guy at work has them on his tundra and he likes them a lot. Haven't heard a bad thing about em

I have 305/65/18's and they are a great size with the leveling kit.

FYI, I got the Falken Rocky Mountain ATS they are a great tire and are about half the price of BFG's.

325/65/18 Toyo Open Country ATs (similar to Nitto Terra Grappler)
18x9 XD Cranks (factory offset - similar to stock FX4 rim)
2.5" Rough Country Level Kit

Wish I had those 3.73 gears you have!! I am stuck with the 3.55s, but the truck drives fine... I don't race it... Getting about 11mpg in town so far (multiply your trip odometer by 1.05 to get actual miles for gas calculations).

Thanks for the posts guys! Nice looking trucks! Makes me lean a little toward the 305/65/18 so far, i like that look and won't be as big a MPG hit as the 325's but damn they look real good too. Now i know someone out there is rockin a leveling kit and the Nitto sizes i listed above. Where you at??

I currently have 275/65/18 ~ 32.1x10.8 BFG A/T's. Anyone have any idea what kind of MPG hit i will take if i go up to the 295/70/18 trail grapplers or the 305/65/18 BFG's?? Hoping to offset any difference with a gryphon. Not too concerned and dont think it will be anything drastic but i dont really know thats why im asking. I've heard the Nitto's are heavy... heavier enough to make a big difference??

I have driven about 5 tanks of fuel through my truck after installing the 305's and my mileage hasn't noticeably changed... I am still getting mid 16's... I love these tires, and highly recommend them.
