Another 4x4 problem
Ok i have read many other topics about the solenoids and vacuum leak issues and 4x4 not working. But i have never heard anyone one having the same problem as me so i'm hoping someone else has and can tell me how they got it fixed.
So, when i am in D, i can switch on 4x4, the dash light turns on and you can feel while turning that it does in fact engage. But as soon as i get the tires spinning at all or a load such as driving up a hill the truck makes a BANG and you can feel the 4x4 disengage. The light stays on the whole time and i have to slow down to let it re-engage.
But, when i am in R, the 4x4 works 100%. Atleast when i off road i can always back out of anything i get into going forward, but for the icy roads and muddy hills i need 4x4 going forward.
I removed the 4x4 solenoid and cleaned it using compressed air and it seems it takes alot more load to disengage 4x4. So i will replace it and hoefully check the vacuum lines at the hubs.
So if anyone has had this same problem please tell me about how you may have had it fixed. And also wondering how to check out the lines at the hubs. Can you just yank the vacuum lines out? Thanks alot

When I hit ice and my tires spin, I get a loud bang once I get traction again. Their is a know problem with my 04 with play in the driveshaft (slip yoak) and I think that is what is causing the bang. If I take off slow and then it it hard you can feel/hear a loud bang/clunk. I don't know if this is the same as you but just giving you my own experience.
